Back Pain

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger Point Injections are injections of anesthetic, with or without steroid, administered to “trigger points” which are painful bands of spastic muscle that develop under the skin. Trigger points are generally felt under the fingers as taut bands that are tender to the touch, and can cause pain in other regions of the body called “referred pain”. Trigger points are often seen in Myofascial Pain Syndrome. Injection of botulinum toxin (Botox) has also been shown to be effective in treating trigger points and myofascial pain.
